ELEKTRA LOPEZ
Karissa Rivera, a 32-year-old professional wrestler hailing from New Jersey, currently wrestles with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). She competes on the SmackDown brand of WWE, where she is known by her ring name, Elektra Lopez.
Early WWE Wrestling Career
Rivera is a second-generation professional wrestler, being the daughter of Steve King, who was active in the WWF from 1976 to 1984. She received her training from Damian Adams, a wrestler based in New Jersey. Rivera her WWE debut on November 14, 2018, during an episode of NXT, where she faced Lacey Evans and was defeated.
In April 2019, she made her return to WWE programming on SmackDown Live, performing under the ring name Karissa. During this appearance, she teamed up with Kris Statlander as part of a local tag team known as The Brooklyn Belles. In their match, they competed for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship but were unsuccessful against the champions, the IIconics. Additionally, Rivera was featured as Bobby Lashley’s “ex-wife” in a segment on Monday Night RAW.
Independent Wrestling Promotions
Karissa Rivera has made several appearances for Ring Of Honor including the upset of former women’s champion Sumie Sakai. She is also a regular on the northeast indie scene making appearances for Legendary Action Wrestling (LAW), World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW), Northeast Wrestling, Women’s Wrestling Revolution, Outlaw Wrestling NY and others, capturing the WXW-C4 title and the LAW Women’s title.
Return to WWE NXT
On June 22, 2021, Karissa Rivera signed with World Wrestling Entertainment. She made her NXT debut on the June 22nd episode of NXT under the ring name, Elektra Lopez. In her return, she wrestled against Franky Monet.
In the episode that aired on August 24, Elektra Lopez played a pivotal role in assisting Legado Del Fantasma to secure a victory over Hit Row, thereby affirming her position as the faction’s valet and manager. Subsequently, in the September 28th episode of NXT 2.0, Lopez triumphed over B-Fab of Hit Row in a no disqualification match. However, two weeks later, Escobar was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the NXT North American Championship from Scott, effectively concluding the rivalry, as Hit Row was later drafted to SmackDown during the WWE Draft.
On the October 7, 2022 episode of SmackDown, the Legado Del Fantasma faction made its inaugural appearance on WWE SmackDown without Elektra Lopez, who was substituted as the faction’s valet by Zelina Vega.
At NXT New Year’s Evil, Lopez took part in the 20-Women’s Battle Royal, vying for an opportunity at Roxanne Perez’s NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Vengeance Day. She managed to eliminate Thea Hail but was ultimately eliminated by Nikkita Lyons. Lopez first joined forces with Lola Vice on the April 14 episode of NXT Level Up, where they were defeated by Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. On the June 13 episode of NXT, Vice officially formed an alliance with Lopez. This partnership came to an end on January 16, 2024, during an NXT episode when Vice eliminated Lopez from a No. 1 contenders battle royal. The following week, Lopez confronted Vice in a Supernova Sessions segment, leading to an attack on her.
Elektra Lopez Moves to SmackDown
In the episode of SmackDown that aired on January 26, 2024, Lopez intervened in a contest featuring Santos Escobar and Carlito. Her involvement enabled Escobar to secure victory and facilitated his return to Legado del Fantasma. Subsequently, on the January 30th episode, Lopez faced Vice, marking her last match and appearance in NXT. Following this, Elektra was drafted to WWE’s SmackDown brand.
