The Usos Win WWE SmackDown Championship
In March 2017, the Usos defeated American Alpha to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, becoming the first team to have won both the RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The team’s reign lasted 124 days.
For the rest of 2017, the Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship two more times and then in 2019, they won it a fourth time. In January 2020, The Usos returned with a new short hair look and once again as part of the SmackDown roster, aiding Roman Reigns in his feud with King Corbin.
In May 2020, Jimmy suffered a knee injury in the triple threat ladder match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 36 putting him out for six to nine months with Jey appearing only sporadically. On the September 4 episode of SmackDown, Jey Uso returned and replaced Big E in a fatal-four way match against King Corbin, Matt Riddle, and Sheamus and won to earn a Universal Championship match at Clash of Champions against his cousin, Roman Reigns.
Jimmy Uso Returns from Injury
Jimmy Uso returned from injury on the May 7 episode of SmackDown. He did not approve of the alliance between Jey and Reigns, as he called Jey “Reigns’ bitch” and he even wore a t-shirt that said “Nobody’s Bitch”. The ensuing feud between the two brothers over Jey’s allegiance eventually caused Jey to temporarily walk out on the June 11th episode of SmackDown.
On the following week’s episode of SmackDown, Jimmy offered his help to Reigns during his Hell in a Cell match with Rey Mysterio, and he raised Reigns’ hand after the match. The following week on SmackDown, Jimmy attempted to assist Reigns when Edge attacked him and speared him through the barricade. Both Jey and Jimmy Uso showed their alliance with Reigns the following week confirming their face turn to heel.
At Money in the Bank, The Usos were successful in capturing their fifth SmackDown Tag Team Championships from the Mysterios.
At SummerSlam, The Usos would defeat The Mysterios in a rematch to retain The SmackDown tag team titles. On the September 10, 2021 edition of SmackDown from Madison Square Garden, The Usos teamed up with Roman Reigns to take on the team of the Mysterios and John Cena in a losing effort in a dark match.
The Usos Win RAW Tag Team Titles
On May 20th, The Usos beat RK-Bro to win the RAW Tag Team Titles. This was a “Winner Takes All” unification match of the WWE’s tag team championship titles. The Usos retained their titles at Money in the Bank against the Street Profits. The win was controversial with the Usos winning by pinfall despite Montez Ford’s shoulder being off the mat. A rematch between the teams was scheduled for SummerSlam with a special guest referee, later revealed to be Jeff Jarrett.
On July 18, The Usos surpassed the 365-day mark as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, becoming the first team to hold the titles for a continuous reign of one full year. At SummerSlam, the Usos successfully retained against the Street Profits. On the August 1 episode of RAW, the Usos retained their titles against The Mysterios.
At SummerSlam 2022, The Usos retained against The Street Profits and again at Crown Jewel in November against The Brawling Brutes. On the November 11th episode of SmackDown, they successfully defended their championships against The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods), thus ensuring that they would become the longest reigning male tag team champions on WWE’s main roster.
The Usos Break Records
On November 14, 2022, The Usos officially broke The New Day’s record for main roster tag team championships. They broke Gallus’ record of 497 days on November 28 with the NXT UK Tag Team Championship. This meant they had become the longest reigning male tag team champions in WWE history. At Survivor Series WarGames in November, The Bloodline defeated The Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens in a WarGames match.
For the next several weeks, tension between The Usos and Sami Zayn resurfaced. After Reigns retained his championship at the Royal Rumble against Kevin Owens, The Usos attacked Owens. Sami Zayn refused to hit Kevin Owens; instead, he hit Reigns with a steel chair, turning face. Jimmy, Sikoa and Reigns attacked Zayn while Jey Uso looked on and eventually left the ring disgusted. Jey showed up on the February 10th episode of SmackDown and successfully defended the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with Jimmy against Braun Strowman and Ricochet.
The Usos’ Reign Ends
On night one of WrestleMania 39 on April 1st, The Usos main evented WrestleMania for the first time in their careers. They lost the titles to Owens and Zayn, thus ending their RAW reign at 316 days and their record SmackDown reign at 622 days. This match also marked the first time a tag team match main evented WrestleMania since its inaugural show. They failed to capture the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships in their rematch against Owens and Zayn on the April 28 episode of SmackDown.
At Night of Champions, Jimmy turned face after he and Jey cost Reigns and Solo Sikoa the match for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships. Jimmy super-kicked Reigns for mistreating them. Jimmy was officially removed from The Bloodline for his actions at Night of Champions on the June 2 episode of SmackDown during Reigns’ 1,000 days Universal Champion celebration.
On June 9, Jey was given a United States Championship opportunity against Austin Theory but lost the match. On the following week’s episode of SmackDown, Jey decided to side with Jimmy and left The Bloodline . The Usos then super-kicked both Sikoa and Reigns.
The Usos Defeat Roman Reigns
At Money in the Bank, The Usos defeated Reigns and Sikoa in a “Bloodline Civil War” tag team match with Jey pinning Reigns. This is Reigns’ first direct pinfall loss since December 2019 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. At SummerSlam, Jimmy appeared to have turned on Jey by pulling him out of the ring while he was trying to pin Reigns and super-kicked him. This allowed Reigns to defeat Jey. On the August 11th episode of SmackDown, he explained that if Jey had become the new Tribal Chief, the power would have corrupted him. Jey responded by super-kicking Reigns, Sikoa, and finally Jimmy. He then declared that he was quitting WWE.
On the September 1st episode of Smackdown, Jimmy confronted John Cena with a new theme song, only to get an Attitude Adjustment from Cena. Later in the night, he helped Solo Sikoa in his match with AJ Styles.
